Well, correct me if i am wrong but scribing involves tight curves ! My carvex will not do this due to the blade jumping out of the guides. I love the full range of Festool's but this one has some fundamental flaws. Shame as it is the best jigsaw i have seen & that includes Mafell also.

Woodguy.

What blades are you using?
Rob.

Yeah it may just, I hope it doesn't escape. Did some today and it was ok. Just using the stock festool blades.

No, come on, be honest; you just wanted it to match your new vacuum, didn't you!! :D

Or, you could just cut it outside, on a Workmate!

I've NEVER used DX with a jigsaw - whether in somebody's house or not.

I reckon that the blades are 90% of the performance of a jigsaw - a good jigsaw with a crap blade in will give a bad cut.

To right about matching the new vac! I want all my tools replaced with Festools this year. Which shouldn't be hard, if I replace my CS, Drill and Router then that will be done!

That is the excellent dust extraction on all its tools, there is no other company out there that has put the amount of thought into this issue.

Musta been having a word with that dyson blokey? :)

You reckon?

Festool = Quality

Dyson = Pineapple

Too right!

Its a delight if you have to 'service' (read 'unblock') an upright one in a household where most of the women have long hair. I have 'enjoyed' unblocking drains more!

Not only is the mother-in-law's Dyson perhaps the worst bit of industrial design I've ever seen, it's expensive too, and, despite popular belief, cyclones were in use, (for grain separating and sawdust), for decades before a Dyson ever sucked at anything. I think the patent (for grain) goes back to C19th.

And I believe they're now made in the far east. They used to be made in Swindon, as quite a few redundant staff there will testify. 'Go figure,' as the Yanks say.

Sometimes, I get quite left wing, me...

SWMBO bought one cos it was trendy (personally I think they look awful). It is the worst vacuum cleaner I've had the misfortune to encounter. I suggested a miele but oh no, 'they look boring'. A year or so later her brother in law bought one, then surprise surprise, she wants one, and couldn't remember my suggestion

back on topic, I love festool, but could only justify this...

And according to the customer reviews you'd have wasted 100:

"Blade running to the clamped fence. The blade went were it wanted to and cut at an angle. Unable to keep in a straight line
Used today for the first and last time.
I found this tool as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike."

I've experienced cheap tools, I'd rather spend £200 more and know I've got the top model that will last me.

As mentioned before, any jigsaw is only as good as it's blade, and I've had no trouble at all with mine.

Believe me if I could afford to get everything festool I would, maybe in a years time I'll join you on the green and dark blue slope 8)

Don't do it, its so slippery!

I don't know if it is all about the blade, this new one cuts so much quicker than the Black & Decker one I had previously. My cheap circ saw cuts great with a freud blade. But the dust extraction and lack of guide rail is enough of an argument to get a new TS55. :)

I've been using both Makita and Festool jigsaws this week.

Without question the blade is the most important (90%) of the performance between the two. The Festool edged it, but only just.

Yes - had mine 5 years and no sign of it going to the knackers yard yet.

What was your final verdict on the routers? I like the look of that Festool one that has the dust shroud that comes down around the bit trapping all the dust.

If I had the wedge I would have bought the Festool. But I don't (and SWMBO is being made redundant), so I bought a T11 which was on offer. I made the money back on a Saturday fitting some worktops, so it owes me nothing now.

Maybe one day i'll buy the OF1400 and put the Trend in a table. For now it's down the list.

Cheers

Another great one, Chems!
I picked one up myself on thursday. Not used in anger yet, though.
Looking forward to it, though :D

"has strobing LED's that sync to the blade so it appears as if its not moving."

That sounds very scary.

I like my Makita 4351 very much, especially with Bosch 308B or 308BF blades. Tool-less change, a light, and dust extraction (though hooking up the tiny nozzle to the vac was something of a challenge but solved by scavenging bits from one of those keyboard/computer cleaning kits.)

Those blades whistle through 70mm oak
