SWMBO has decided the kitchen needs changing, she is correct of course. Does anyone know who is the cheapest for them. I shall fit the units myself of course but don't want to spend a fortune. I seem to remember Brad Naylor mentioning a company he buys from near Manchester but can't remember the name. So far I have found DIY kitchens on line to be the cheapest at around £40 for each base unit. Anyone know of any cheaper than that? :?

Have you tried Howdens?

Watch out with Ikea cabs they have no service void behind them so all pipework etc must run below them and the backs are nailed on so pushing too much stuff in the cabinet will pop the backs off. Also they are slightly shorter at 700mm and the wall cabs are a bit too deep for my liking making it harder to get to the back of the worktop. Also the wall hangers/fixings are not easy to adjust.

B&Q take aways are a bit flimsy with 15mm sides that will affect what wirework and draws you can use without packing the sides and hinges will need +3mm mounting plates.

Wood fit do a few ranges of carcases, I've only used their top spec ones which are good for flatpack. Crown Imperial have nice cabs again flatpack if you can get them without doors.

There speaks a happily married man

On the same lines: mine has decided that the doors of all our units need replacing with something less dated. Anyone know a good supplier of those??

Hope you don't mind the hijack Mailee

That's because I didn't give the name out!

Seeing as it's you though, here it is.

http://www.choixbedroomsandkitchens.co.uk

The quality is very good and they come fully assembled. They are available in the full Egger range of colours. Thay also do special sizes.

A highline 600 in white is £23. Highline 1200 is £29. 18mm all round including the back. Price includes legs and Hafele hinges.

Now you know why I don't make kitchen cabinets anymore! :D

Download the price list off the main page.

Cheers
Brad
