J. Sagar Machines - Paint Question

So as vaguely noted elsewhere here, I recently re-commissioned an old Sagar Morticer.

The shared workspace where it's installed would like it painted at some point, rather than the current (expedient) wire-brushed and oiled finish.

There doesn't seem to be a clear indication of what the original colours would have been, I've seen Sagar machines in White, Black, Grey, & Bursgreen* Green (AKA Wadkin Green)... But nothing seems to say what is 'original'.

Does anyone know?

I'd like to try and keep it original in appearance, but if not it'll [eventually] get painted the house colour (RAL 6002 Heritage Green) with Red detailing on the makers mark; which is not actually a bad colour for old machines in truth.

* If I understand correctly, Sagar bought Bursgreen in 1953, then closed the Halifax works in 1957, presumably meaning the remnants of Sagar were brought into Bursgreen, who after another buy-out became Wadkin (Durham) Ltd.

Grey paint with red lettering was the original colour on at least some machines towards the end.

Interesting.

The machine in Question is electrically powered by its original custom built motor, running on standard 3 phase voltage and frequency... This all points to being of post 1938 manufacture at least... I'm not sure if 19 years prior to the end of production counts as "near the end".

It does have the odd greyish patch, but it's hard to say exactly what those are... Being that it was so dirty on arrival (what is odd is that the previous owner managed to keep all the moving and working surfaces tip-top, but everything else was dirty and rusted...

Sion Dovey in Pembokeshire should know if there is ever a person on this planey who knows.

What I know for sure is that the post-1955 bandsaw at the local timberyard certainly has it's original paintwork and it is grey with red lettering.

All sagars would have been grey, with white lettering which was very common at the time,its hard to give a exact ral colour, sagar was brought out by wadkin in 1956 and all assets went to wadkin green lane but the company continued to trade as part of the wadkin group for some years.
