More to come soon :D

It's a bit of a give away when you title one picture with "parts added to fit plane". Nice box though, although I not sure I'd have flocked ABW.
By the way on the subject of planes how are you getting on with your scraper?

Nice one Nibbo the flocker!

I've some plane (no 66, no 45) boxes coming up (prob december or so). Seriously need to check out that flocking and get some supplies to flock.

Nice job!

What a load of cheats..... [-X of the 115 at present who have looked at the thread 113 have had a look on my blog.
I said no cheating

Before anyone asks, the flock was bought from a model shop it's for look alike grass, you paint on glue (much like watered down pva) and the flock is charged with static by rubbing the plastic container on your clothes then you pepper it on from the container, leave it for 24 hours then blow off the excess.

Then take the link of the bottom of your posts!

I'd be really interested to see how you get on with that, I'm considering buying once next time in the states. Can you do a review for us?

You might get one on ebay but LV sold out months ago. I've never thought about doing a review, I don't think it would compare to any done by Alf or Derek Cohen and I suppose it would be no different to the iron versions.

Yeah, but I like LN!

It's not so much the particular version of that tool (trying not to give it away here) but that whole idea, is your jointer not good enough? Would love your opinion

The pair of iron edge plane from Veritas have small grub screws to keep the blade exactly in position at the work end of the blade this feature is also incorporated in the stainless steel model and although it was the molds of the bronze edge plane that were used to make the SS version the bronze model does not have these adjusters not even the LN version or the original stanley 95 has them either.

My 8" jointer does a perfect job of edging boards but it's nice to be able to do it by hand quickly and easily especially on shorter pieces without the need to keep checking with a square as when you use an ordinary plane.
Not much I can add at this point other than the SS version is superb in finish and to use. :)

The finished box, well nearly finished, it's had a coat of cellulose sanding sealer plus two coats of Danish oil every coat except the last coat rubbed back with 0000 wire wool. A couple more coats on the outside should see it finished.

What it looks like inside. A pocket has been added to put the guarantee instruction and the paperwork showing authenticity of limited edition #22 of 300.

The final touch after a couple more coats of danish oil might be to stick this on the inside of the lid, I can't quite make my mind up about it.

Now what to do with the plane sock and the original cardboard box?

I keep my papers in the orig box. Along with the sock, hich I don't use to store the plane. To afraid after some plane sock horo stories for rusting. (I know I'm a pineapple ;) )

Yes I've read quite a few disaster stories regarding storage socks, but I think most are caused by leather socks. The Veritas is a velvet type of material and lets it breath, it's actually very well made. Like most people I've got all the boxes stored away probably never to be used again perhaps I should put them on Ebay :-k

Nice looking box for a good looking tool.
It strikes there is a marketing opportunity here, there are another 299 of them out there that you could possibly sell boxes for.

It's just occurred to me that the wood type in my little tool box might not be mahogany.
This is the finished box
2840403554_52b77ae6d2.jpg

and this is what it was made from

I had six of those chairs and a large round table, so no shortage of waste to make it from

Perhaps it is a mahogany type, I don't know, It's certainly not teak as most outside garden furniture is advertised as being made of. :(

Some weeks ago CNC Paul kindly offered free of charge to make me a name plate for my Veritas limited edition stainless steel edge plane.

Well here is the finished box with the name plate attached. Paul used his amazing home made cnc machine made it using a piece of beech.
