Thanks again to eBay, I received the following, which is the latest addittion to my workshop at a smidgen under £400; only a few months old and rarely used - these things go for £510 brand new and it really is in great condition!

As you can see, it's found a home where it fits nicely on to the, er... workshop floor!! I've kept my eyes peeled for a 10" version but when I saw this monster and the irresistible 110mm depth of cut at 90 degrees - well, you know, I just couldn't help myself! But I never for once even considered just how much space such a 'simple' tool could consume it doesn't even fit on my bench without hitting the wall at the end of a cut!!

There was a time when I was considering going for an SIP model - but I've already upgraded my Perform P/T and will be looking to move on from my limited SIP bandsaw next year, I thought, why settle for any less now?

Does anyone else have this saw? I've seen one or two with the 10" model. 8) I'm thinking about building a stand for this and making good use of the side extensions and stop, but I'm put off by the £18 Bosch want for 4 435mm lengths of round steel... Would it be cheaper for me to make and fit my own?

It appears to need a little fettling to get the cut dead square and the supplied blade leaves a good finish - I also need a dust bag and a manual though; I can see a vacum being a bit awkward for quick jobs.

:D

Hi OPJ, a bargain.

Regards the steel, it is much cheaper to buy it as stock, I pay £2.00 for three metre lengths of 8mm bar. I reckon a trip to a local fabrication shop will you paying very little for 4 pieces that length, just be careful when you check how thick it needs to be.you may have to monkey about to fit cross pieces to support the timber being worked on, but say a piece of 2x2 at each end would do the job.

Chunko'.

I have the 10" SIP SCMS and encountered similar issues with clearance. Fortunately I have the advantage of building my workshop around it and so built a sliding shelf for it with 100lb runners and built pull out from the benches either site to support long lengths, overall it works very well

Thanks for sharing this, OllyK. I really like your idea of using a sliding shelf.

If I had the space for another bench somewhere, I'd build one for my mitre saw and morticer, as well as my disc & belt sander (while I still have it) and put them all on sliding shelves... I appear to have LOST my workbench in the past few months with all these puchases!

Thanks also to Chunko'. That looks like an incredibly cheap way of doing it indeed. Guess I just need to double check my sizes and see what I can find. Thank you. :)

As for the manual, while Bosch have a .PDF one available to download on their website, they're also happy to print out all the pages and post them to me - free of charge - so I have something to hand in the workshop. :D

Not only does this save me a mountain of paper, but also a small fortune in black ink too! Thank you very much, Bosch!

Good purchase. I have the 10" version - this is how I managed to fit it in the workshop:

I use it all the time - added a Laserkerf laser guide too which is a real boon. The sliding fence borrows my micro-adjustable stop from my Scheppach table saw.

Ah, I see you also use the dust bag - even though you have a vacuum directly underneath! :D

I'll be honest no I don't anymore! The dust collection is the wall at the back ;). It doesn't work too well and I'm restricted for room so it gets in the way except for 90 deg cuts. Similarly with the vacuum hose. I do need to have another play with the whole dust extraction when I get a chance.
Cheers
