I want to glue some 25x40 oak lippings to an 18mm veneered MDF dining table top using biscuit dowels. I was considering Extramite as I thought it would be stronger than PVA (I have used it in the leg mortise and tenon joints already where the forces are in shear).
I was concerned reading some threads that it may be rather brittle in this type of reinforced butt joint. Would I be better off using the good old white PVA? Whatever I use must be easy to wipe off, so I was worried about using PU on such a potentially messy joint.
If I were to use Extramite, I was surprised that they direct you to apply to only one surface. I have always worked glue into the fibres of both surfaces with a glue brush - is there a reason not to do this with Extramite?
Peter.
