I'm having my internal doors stripped and I'm not sure whether to finish with wax or acrylic varnish.

I know that wax will give me the 'glow' that I want but I'm worried that it will need to be constantly maintained. I've never been a huge fan of wax preferring instead the low maintenance of varnish.

However, on this occasion I'm wondering if it might be worth the effort?

I've got 7 doors to do and the work level doesn't bother me, - I'm happy to put in the elbow grease for the benefit if it's worth it.

Won't wax need to be reapplied yearly and will it wear in places leaving a grubby finish? I know if I varnish I won't have to do an awful lot more and if I go acrylic I'll get a quick drying hard wearing finish (with 3 teenagers that is a requirement!).

I think I may have just convinced myself with the above argument but wonder what others experience might be?

If I do go for wax are any of the liquid versions any good in terms of application and long term wear?

Thanks

Stuart

hey steve you've probably done it by now but liberon do a good floor wax which is liquidish and very quick to apply. As you might imagine from its intended use its quirte hard wearing but i'd be llooking at reapplying ever 6 months to keep the sheen.

Why not varnish and then wax over that to try and get the required glow?
