Erm... you're the one who said it was a waste of money, I'm not sure I can explain your own argument to you. No need to be snarky about it!

The only true test for a piece of art, whether furniture or pyrography, is whether or not it sells for a given price. That's really all that matters.

Same goes for my photography. I once felt incredibly deflated after reading some comments from a well known landscape photographer, regarding one of my photographs. He was literally offended by the composition. After a month of feeling down in the dumps, I submitted it to my agency and it's sold several hundred times since.

How many more people were aware of a store called John Lewis after the advert aired?

Was that the aim?
I'd say that those adverts are just trying to endear people to John Lewis at this point. It's not "Have you heard of our shop? It's called John Lewis" any more. It's more associating the place with Christmas so people get their presents there.

I did actually shop at JL a couple of years ago simply because I thought the advert was good. Then they used a song that I like and ruined it for me by playing it a few hundred times a day. This year it just seems sickly and pandering. I was going to buy a laptop from them but I remembered the advert and thought twice.

This post soon shifted into something else and away from the disparaging remarks made against another members work.

That's how conversations work.
They were hadly a member they just came to tell us we had turned them into a victim.

Well it looks like our criticisms have been heard. Items relisted at prices that barely cover postage and the Disney ones are gone all together.

Good Luck to them.

Not my cup of tea but neither is tea, beer, football, cricket etc.............
