Hi all,
Recently I got hold of a couple of eucalyptus logs and I'm going to make some rustic outdoor furniture with them. My question is how do I go about cutting them. Whys the best saw to use as o have not for a chain saw. I tried with a normal cross cut saw and it worked but was wondering if there is anything better. Also if I want to take chunks out of it to shape and carve what's the best tool set?

Cheers
Mark

I wouldn't put too much effort into it, I expect that it will rot pretty quickly.

I've worked with eucliptus before... if it's going to stand outside in the sun and rain don't use it... it will warp and crack and rot too fast... It's better for inside works. For carving a big log in to a bench use a chainsaw but be prepared as eucaliptus is hard and usually grows in a kind of a spiral pattern. :)
