Whilst clearing my loft I came across these memory boards from a DEC Vax 6000 computer circa 1992, and architecturally the max supported memory was a whopping 256MB ..!
The large board is 32MB of ECC memory and was circa £30k list back in the day and below for comparison is a 2GB SODIMM stick from a 10y old laptop..

..so agree, times have changed :)

Wow! My first computer had 4K of RAM, and a 5(?)" floppy storing around 160kb, IIRC.
