No. The bag filling always comes as a surprise when the light comes on. The other thing worth noting about Sebo's is that they are designed to come apart in all the right places to clear blockages if they occur. Also... John Lewis use Sebo's to vacuum the carpets in the stores (the use the ones with the extra wide head for the extra coverage).

Another Sebo user here :)

Ours was the office hoover for the factory when i was in business where it was well used and abused. Still going strong 3 years later as our domestic vacuum. We had 2 packs of 10 bags for it when we closed the business. I've just started on the second pack of bags. Bags end up rammed tight full of compressed dirt. No loss of suction.

Only downside is it is a bit big and heavy for tight areas. Main upside is it cleans the carpet properly in a single pass so cleaning time is much less.

We do have a henry for other things (like the stairs) too.

LOL - You do realise that if you DON'T now buy a Sebo you'll never be able to post on this forum again about a broken vacuum...

(And I'm slightly concerned about my obsessiveness with this thread... Let it go... let it go... let it go... people have got to make their own mistakes. Let it go...)

Another vote for Henry. I used to have two, one in the shop (still there) and one in the house now gone but as said they are indestructable, cheap and easy to repair if required. We now have a Dyson which is ok. It has broken once but you get a 5 year guarantee if bought new so they came out in 3 days and fixed it. I think its a DC18 which is the lightweight one with the ball. I've got a vax too but only use that to wash the house rugs once a year.

just got off of the phone to vax, they recon its a filter problem....... well d`oh I'd say it is you have to wash it out after 90 seconds of use otherwise the thing panics and thinks theres a blockage.....

anyhow a new filter kit is on its way to us, I`m sure that'll be fine for a few weeks until the filter bungs up enough to cause issues again, I tried to tell the woman that TOO much dust was getting through the cyclone to the "pre-motor" filters but she was having none of it! If it does it again it'll have to go in for "inspection".

ah well, more agro, why am I not surprised?

Hi,

We have had a couple of Dysons they work well but aren't the most sturdy things my (my wife can break most things) but they have allways worked well, we have a Root 8 one at the moment and its faultless (and unbroken)
So I think they are getting better.

Pete

I've got two hoover juniors from the 1960's which go on for ever and are light and easy to use. Also have a Samsung and an Electorlux bagless for the workshop. My favourite cleaners were the Electrolux 502/550 series uprights from the 70's and 80's. You could alsways pick them up for next to nothing on the boot sales and they would always be working.

i have a vax and still going strong it is in the workshop runs without filters and a motor control unit (that burnt out can buy another), so i just conected to the mains, the best vac i have ever had and still going strong, you could try a tiger vac http://www.tiger-vac.com/ they have suction:D

Henry.

Got one in 1986 and its still suckin' like a $50 dollar Hook*r.
Fantastic machine.
Cost the same now today, as it did in '86 too .. not many products you can say that about.

When I was servicing Oil fired burners.. that was the hoover of choice too.
You can abuse it like you'd spank a ginger stepchild, and it'll cope with whatever you throw at it.

Magic little machine, it really is.

We had 3 Dysons that lasted for over ten years doing fine work with no services or anything. Recently we have bought an LG that sucks so hard it's difficult to move it, although the prefilters have to cleaned very regularly otherwise it cuts out; other than that we have a Bissell that is a carpet cleaner and vacuum in one and it is a superb vacuum cleaner, it uses a big old vat of water as a filter, so nothing gets through that, the problem is though it's very heavy and there is a problem whereby if you leave it in one place for too long it leaves a black mark on the floor!

First off close the windows your letting in to much dirt!!
I have a Oreck, gaureented 20 years life span or your money back...so far 7 years old going strong and my wife is trying to wear it out so she gets her money back  ...she vacumms everyday 3000 sq. ft home.I think shes nuts but it cleans good so I don`t care.

We have an Oreck too - had it for many, many years (16?)and still going strong. Apart from changing the paper bags has not had anything done to it!
Very light, simple design but powerful - first saw them being used in hotels in the USA.
My elder daughter in the same time has been through 3 Dysons, 1 Hoover, 1 Electrolux and now has a Vax!

A guy came house to house to sell Rainbow vac`s,told my wife to vac with hers and he would show her what she was missing...long story short I got my vac (Shop vac) and pulled the carpet up...he left without a sale.Oh he said this is the one used on the space shuddle,I just looked at him as if he were crazy...Space shuddle, the guys in the white suits went over that thing with a fine tooth comb...no dirt on it and as of the last time I watched it on TV there wasn`t one sole useing one.

Do you still get Kirby's ?

They were meant to be the Rolls-Royce of hoovers.. haven't seen one for years ..... they were things that looked like they'd been built on the Clyde.. not a bit of plastic in sight ! 8)

Have not seen one lately but thats how the Electrolux was built to I still remember My Mom giving me rides around the house on its runners(It had no wheels)

We had a kirby saleswoman come round 12+ years ago.
It had a vibrating
brush which made it very effective , cost £2000-00 yeah right i'll have two love
And to cap it all it had a bag!!! which of corse lowers suction as it gets blocked :)
