Well this is not a review yet, but I thought I'd give you some first impressions seeing as it was delivered today. It's 110v and I've not got the trannie yet, so I can't play with it until that arrives.
My first thought is that the thing is an absolute monster, a green one
You can see here that it's right up against the wall and that's with the saw head right back. This was the reason for buying it. To gain some more room in the workshop. However, it doesn't gain me as much as I'd hoped. This is mainly because it's a bigger saw than the last one. I've gone from 10" to 12". At the moment I've gained about 4 inches of space in front of the saw. Which is not much but significant in my workshop.
One biggish problem is that the tilt controls are on the back of the saw. So you need to be able to access the back. This saw has rack and pinion for micro adjusting the tilt angle. The kapex also has this but the knob on that one is at the front, wheras the Hitachi's is at the back.
When\If I build it into a proper dedicated table, it will gain me a bit more room and is really where the front sliding bars will become a real god send.
So far, the machine looks very well made and is certainly substantial. Expect a proper review when the trannie arrives (with the transformer )
