Hi folks,

Last summer I recently finished the decking in our garden. After some time I’m looking to install some lighting around the perimeter. I understand this can be quite challenging to fit to an existing decking.

Is there any recommendations for easy to install lights. I’ve got some lights I’m considering but unsure whether there are better ones out there.

Probably depends on what you intend using- mains power albeit low voltage or solar . Worlds you oyster tbh as the cheap ones ( solar ) last for a year or so or the imo better quality low voltage mains kits are worth looking at . The last ones I fitted a few years back are still going today and the leds are easily replaced . The wiring however was installed with the decking so the transformer is in the conservatory and the low voltage cables run under the decking in 32mm waste pipe so easy to replace if needed.

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me. I’m looking at using these from a local retailer.

Have you got any images/pictures of the ones you used, ie the better quality low voltage kits. It would be handy to have ones that last a while.

Unfortunately no pics , the one in your link looks like good quality- marine grade s/steel , and rated at ip67 so practically waterproof, pre wired etc . Only thing it doesn’t state is the voltage . You will need to make sure that any connection to a mains supply cable is also ip44 or above imo .. I suspect you will have to remove a few boards to fit these retrospectively but that shouldn’t be an issue depending on how you have fixed them down .
The company I use for specialist lighting is blt direct . The product I’ve linked is just to take you to the correct website. Worth a look imo

Hi again, great I was hoping they were decent ones, I shouldn’t have an issue fitting them just want the correct lights before I make a start. I’ll take a look through your recommendation. Many thanks.
