Using the wifes w10 laptop I have hit a problem.

The touchpad seemed to be locked, it normally works with a single tap, and for a long time I thought the computer had locked, then I found if you hold the touchscreen instead of our usual tap it worked again.

Phew the wife got her smile back .

Now she wants me to put the laptop back to tapping action not hold down.

I used ask a question and got taken to the settings for mouse etc. but it will not reset to tap any clues what has happened please.

It would restore peace to our home again if you solve this for me.

Whilst the wife was watching her saturday evening tv I got out her laptop. Over 30 minutes later I still had not got windows 10 to boot up. Messages kept saying configuring windows or repairing etc,.

When all windows updates were installed it returned to normal service, tap works etc. The lady me thinks has been switching off when window updates want to download and she did not have the time to mess.

I dont think you can stop those updates?, she does not need them, nor do I.

BTW is there not a traditional System Restore at W10 either?

Thanks for your assistance and all looking in.

Glad you got it working.

Yes you definitely do need the updates.

System restore can be launched by typing rstrui in the search box in the bottom left corner.

Click on it above when it finds it.

That's a constant issue with MS software it's always upgrading.
Happens nearly every time you switch on but normally only 5 to 10 mins.
