Hello all
No turning pictures i am afraid but I have been having a major clear up and sort out in Gloucester. The lathe has moved to its new home and I thought you might like to see my chopsaw set up (done at last!!!!)
Hopefully I can find some time to turn soon.

Basic but effective

you'll want to be careful with that window, perhaps put some weld mesh over it in case a big piece breaks off?

nice setup though, i have that compund saw but i cant put it in my workshop yet due to wet roof. but soon

it cuts like a dream

nice workshop

Glad to see you have finally gained some floor space Rich, presume you managed to get the roof sorted before the re-org started. Hope you are leaving space for the mean-machine some time in the future.

Thanks for the metal grill idea, I might make a removable one and get some blinds to keep prying eyes out.

Chas, do you mean the graduate? If you do that is staying in Notts.

I am having problems with the spindle, it is not running 100% true at the moment. I am in touch with the guy who reconed it and he has promised me another spindle, I am still waiting though. Its no big deal when turning small stuff but on platters when you reverse them they are out.

I forgot to mention the roof.
Still leaking at times, a new roof is on the horizon, still waiting. The reorganization was hanging on for the roof but I got fed up and got on with it anyway. Much nicer place to work now.

What luxury, the lathe in front of a nice big window! My workshop is in one end of a large barn - no windows at all :(

Like the sound of the 'large barn' Tekno. Always scope for expansion

Don't know what you guys are talking about. I work in a 6x10 shed and daydream. Annoying thing is it's on the base of an old shed that is 12 x 20. ......one day when I sell loads of stuff to galleries for a lot of money

Sadly it's not my barn, I just have the use of the end that used to be the farm's workshop (sharing & having the use of the farm's workshop equipment - pillar drill, donkey saw, bandsaw, welding equipment, angle grinders etc) the other end contains the firewood stacks, log splitter, chainsaws and quite often a tractor! Needless to say, as it's a barn it's drafty and unheated and parts of it leak when it rains. Happily the lathe is in the dry end and we are contemplating installing a woodburner before next winter. We also have swallows nesting in it :)
