Hands up please fellow forumers if you've ever been to Cumbria!

It just amazes me that after many months of following this forum, how many wide and diverse fellow members from all over the country (and globe) there are. On the finger of 4 hands, I think I've been to about 6 of the counties in the UK!!

Well I'm a northerner, so what do you think I'll say? I think I've visited almost every county in the UK and worked in at least half of them (including Rutland). But then I always did have itchy feet!

Now for those who live "darn sarf" Cumbria is the smaller sticky-out bit to the left of the M6 just before you get to sporran land (the bigger bit is called "Wales")

Scrit

Of course - as a neighbouring Lancastrian... Cumbria has to be one of the best places to spend time :D

David

Scrit - both yourself and Dom V have both confirmed my belief in hero-worship! 8)

Thank you

Yep, went to a wedding there, height of tourist season, ended up being 4hrs late due to caravans, sightseers and sheep. Lovely views apart from the whacking great Nuclear power plant

My aunt and uncle live up there. He had a ton of work due to all the flood damaged houses a few years back. I've yet to get up there though, as being from 'darn sarf' I get a nosebleed if I travel past Watford :)

Heard it's a nice place though. Certainly looks amazing from the photo's i've been sent.

I have been to Cumbria in the past though these days my passport has expired so I can no longer travel north of Watford.
Cheers Mike

You obviously missed out the detour round the big boxy building where they make giant grey sea slugs......

Still, it's nice to see the locals made all you southerners feel at home by arranging a traffic jam for you. If you leant out of the window and spoke to others you'd have been able to hear the pains that Cumbrians got to to ensure that all you lovely Home Counties folk feel at home by ensuring that the traffic jams are made up of people from your own part of the world - at least you would have if you could hear each other over the Tourist Board's rappa Wordsworth.....

Good point Senior - I've been all over the world, and when asked which part of the UK I come from, the answer is "Cumbria......Sellafield......Keswick.... and thats about it! People then think about that big lump west of the M6 as so perfectly put by Scrit ](*,)

Actually many Americans have heard at least one place in Cumbria. No, not Sellafield, but Whitehaven. Their navy even turns up every year to say hello
