I think it should be termed a "Young Gentleman's Chair" I can't see myself easily being able to thread my legs through the opening beneath the tray. It is a bit like the bucket seats in some cars, which were difficult to negotiate even I was a lot younger. :giggle:

Well I think I can see why they never caught on.
Reminded me of Edward VII’s loveseat. Which also looks bloomin uncomfortable, just think of the conversation between the king and the Cabinetmaker, and (particularly back in those days) the embarrassment factor involved talking to the king about positions.
