Just finished this this week. A huge beech tree fell on the old summerhouse and I got the job of building a new one. There was about 2 tonnes of spalted beech on site when I started unfortunately it all went for firewood

Its not the sort of work I usually do but in the last few years they have had a kitchen and dining room suite and have got me a loads of work so I decided to do it.

Its constructed with 4X2 frame work clad inside and out fully insulated with celotex. There are 3 rooms inside and a storage loft. Its complety double glazed and has night storage heating. Size wize its about 6m X 4m

Hi jonnyd

lovely , lovely job well done, but, why the hell is the consumer unit at floor level and not at eye level , think about that next time it might be you who has to sort out any problem with it, be much nicer to be stood upright than on your knees  apart from that excellent work .hc

Its for a customer I couldnt afford it :D . The consumer unit had to be put there because that was the length of the electric cable from the main house board, well thats what the sparky said anyway.

nice work Jon,
that must have taken ages to build

i dont know why the consumer unit could'nt have been higher up, even if the armoured cable isnt long enough, it often has to go to an adaptable box, for somewhere for the armoured cable gland to be fixed, then if needs be, it can be joined there to the relavent thickness twin and earth cable to go to the consumer unit.

just noticed the cat flap, is it a house just for the cats?

Hi John it has taken about 5 weeks to build. I built it in the workshop to start with, there wasnt much room with that in there  It was then transported to site as panels. It went up pretty quickly but all the finishing bits seemed to take ages. The doors were bought in but i made all the windows and the big front frame.

I just left the electrics up to the electrician. The room at the back were the cat is going to sleep :D is just a store room so ideally the consumer box should have been in there.

I've been doing the finishing bits on the extensions on my parents house since november

The windows do look good, what bolts did you use for those french doors?, i've been using brass flush bolts from screwfix, last batch i had where a load of %$£&.

if thats where the cat sleeps, then what does it eat? salmon?
