I just thought I would start a fresh thread for the Cutlery canteen as the other is getting quite large with all the photos. So here goes. I managed to sort out the twisted drawer and fit it. I Also cut panel lines into the drawer fronts before finally assembling them.

I got the cutlery set out to test the fitting of the items, thought I had better try them at this stage.

I was left with the serving set that only has seven pieces and wanted to make a feature of these so cut out housings for them to sit in the top compartment.

This took a few hours cutting all the housings by hand with the router as you can imagine. Anyway at the fitting stage it had paid off.

This picture shows the complete canteen before the internals were started.

Finally a photo of the canteen showing how the top drawer is actually a false one that opens with the lid.

I am now awaiting the arrival of the felt lining for the inside and when this arrives I should have some fun fitting it. :?

Alan,
It's coming along very well. that fitting must be quite a chore - I wonder if it would be quicker/easier to use two layers, cutting right through the top one with a coping saw for the outline, then gluing it to a lower layer?

I think you've done well to route those housings as neatly as you appear to have done - I know all too well what it's like when the cutter decides it actually wants to go the other way today! :?
