Bit of a swear word I'm sure but we use a fair amount of MDF.

Has anyone used Formaldehide Free MDF ?

I am interested to know what the quality is like. The health benefits are the reason for the interest.

There seems to be quite a difference in quality between different suppliers / maunfactures of sandard MDF so I wondered if Formaldehide Free was good / bad? (some aremore fluffy than others and harder to finish)

many thanks in advance, Alex

Sorry, I remember trying to get some a while back, I think there is a brand called medite; however, I rang a few big wood merchants and none could provide. I got the impression there was little demand for it.

Most of teh standard MDF is low formaldihide anyway so not that much of a reduction and it costs about £10 a sheet more. Never machined it myself but if its like standard MDF then will still be fluffy thats why I prefer MR.

Medite's version is called Ecologique and you should be able to get it from a decent panel supplier.

Thanks guys,

From the small amount of research we've done, medite has a low formaldehyde content, apparently the lowest available ( excluding formaldehyde free). We did find A medite formd. Free supplier but your right, it is about £10 most expensive. Our problem is storage so we can't order a pallet load to get the price down.

We currently use MR and I agree it's far less furry than standard mdf and it seems heavier or denser too. Better for finishing.

I guess we will stick with the mask and keep improving extraction.

Many Thanks to all
