I got into turning through trying to copy something my dad did - with a lump of softwood, stained black. It looked amazing, with the grain taking on the stain in different measures, but it certainly picks out the imperfections :roll:

John ( JPT ) has got that spot on .... carve / make a replica chilli.. I've absolutely no doubt you could do it in your sleep with one hand behind your back and on one leg !.

That is a FANTASTIC piece... as Tam says , the off-centre lid and the flash of (exactly the right) colour... its genius !
