Personally I can't see what you gain by doing anything more than simply expoxying the studs directly into the holes and more to lose by putting the 'Screwfix ' type nuts int the ends risking splitting the ends of the legs. Granted the studs can tap their own threads but why not use a tap if going that way. Grip the leg in the vice (to compress the layers)to resist splitting.
