Just seen the YouTube video. What a nice bit of engineering!

One thing struck me: It looks like the new-style Festool cases only fit on top of stacks of Systainers, although they obviously fit onto each other either way. Does anyone know why they changed (apart from awkwardness!)?

Just curious really, as I presently own one complete (but lonely) Systainer, so stacking isn't yet a problem!

Well, quite, the awkwardness.
Those lever-catch-thingies are a PITA, I've broken a nail before now, trying to operate them. They are stiff. especially when they get bunged up with sawdust and muck.
The rotating knob thingy looks to be a much more user-friendly option.

you can only stack classic systainers below the new t-loc systainers, they changed because its miles quicker/easyer to twist the t-loc to open rather than 4 classic catches, you can also open a t-loc whilst there is another systainer ontop. oh and the handle is solid and slightly curved so is more comfotable

i sold all my classics on ebay and got all t-locs they are loads better on site

I think as Speed says, it's probably better to take a 'one or the other' approach. The curved handle's a nice touch, but overall I'm not a fan of t-loc personally. Most of my tools are in 'classics' and the t-loc just doesn't integrate very well in that scenario i.e. it has to be the top box in any stack, and it's a PITA to take off as once latched on you can't get to the front latches to undo them - you have undo the side latches then lift the t-loc backwards away from the front latches, then undo them to get into the box below.

I also tend to load my sustainers up pretty full, and the lid of the t-loc distorts alarmingly if you pick up a stack of them - three catches OK, four catches better IHMO...

I'm up to 11 now :D I think they're so handy . To be honest I don't think they needed improving I find the classic systainers fine when you get the hang of the clips it doesn't take much longer than the tlocs. I spotted somewhere that the tloc lids flex really badly when you lift a stack of them.
