I've been looking for some 'cost effective' F clamps

and discovered these on the Transtools site

http://www.transtools.co.uk/store/prod_ ... -80mm.html

I'm not a great fan of silverline but some of their kit is quite useable

As one of the faults with cheap clamps can be mis-alignment between the two parts, I wonder if the double jaw would be an advantage.

Anyone tried these?

Bob

I cant comment on those particular clamps, but i did recently buy 2 of these "380273340629" off ebay just to see if they were any good, and for the price!! they are a bargain, I'll definitely be buying more.
They also do many sizes, so may be of some use?

Hope this is of some help

Matthew sometimes has Bessey's on a special deal...I got hold of four heavyweight F's in the summer - Rob

I was particularly interested in the twin foot ones so I've ordered some as well as the F Clamps. A total of 16 clamps for just over £50 delivered.

I will report back once I've had a chance to evaluate them.

Too late now, but I bought a set of the Axi ones on offer (with wall rack) and so far I'm well pleased with them...so much better than the Quick clamps I bought them to replace, and just about as easy to use. One question I have, looking at Axi pricing and also at the Silverline ones Bob has bought...why are 300 mm bar clamps dearer than the ones with the longer bars? Especially as they have less metal in them.

I did wonder that myself when I ordered some (ones with the free rack). The only thing I can think it could be is the throat size. The 300's are 100mm and the 400's are 80mm

I think the throat depth is a key price driver. The castings and bar need to be more substantial to resist bending for the same force applied as the throat depth increases.
