Hi,
I am new to this forum, so please bear with me!
I am looking for a fairly large band saw for ripping beams and round wood up to about 10". I work mainly in green oak, but lately have been using a lot of well seasoned yew - incredibly hard!
I have been using a Startrite 401S, which perfectly suits my needs, but now I need to buy my own saw and can't afford the Startrite prices. I have been offered an Elektra Beckum BAS500 saw, which I haven't seen in the flesh yet but seems to a slightly lighter model of the startrite 401. Does anyone have any experience of the Elektra? Or can you recommend another make which will cut 12"? I have about £5-600 to spend.
Thanks,
Pete
