clogs
just can't decide
found these this morning whilst walking the pup's....
I always walk the POOPIES early, 1/2 dark and still not awake.....the name is because they are always POOPING....
wife'y said that there were daffs that had gone over in a sunny bed already...!!!!....these are like the dwarf daffs u get in Sainsburys for a couple of quid....but long stemed
we never planted them.....never seen those Chrocus before anywhere on the plot either....must keep my eyes open more.....
actually the Carob trees have finished flowering already and dropped just this last couple of weeks......
today it was 20º and back in shorts.....mmmmmm
some of you may know we foster new born, dumped pups here.....we stopped counting after the 50th.....
weve had em as young as 24/36 hrs old....
these were found by a Finnish couple on holiday....well they found the mum, very pregnant and scarily thin....living on waste land.....
she had these.....
yep, all 9 of them....about 2.5 weeks old in the photo....
we we're desperately busy with getting ready for the next holiday season and the new workshop build....but not as desperate as this family....we're a bit soft.....
we only take new borns, well upto 3 weeks old.....
these needed extra feeding as mum couldn't do it all.....a few early mornings for bottle feeding but my wife and I work as a team...
We get back to bed around 3-4am.....it's not just the feeding you know, u have to toilet them as well.....it all takes time then 4 hours later we have to do it all again...hahaha....
Sometimes esp as they get a little older they often need a bath.....handling poo/wee covered pups is no fun and cert not hygenic for them....we've done it so many time it's now like clockwork for us....lol....
They are now around 8.1/2 weeks old and get walked/played with many times a day......hence the flower photo's.....this gets em in the habit of pooing out side of the kennels.....helping them house clean....
so before their breakfast one of us walks em and gets to play while the other cleans the kennel...then once they are away it's another walk to pick up all the other poo in the garden.........
yes it goes in one end and out the other....but we dont mind.....
we never tire of new borns....it's been quite an experience to do this many....who couldn't love these bundles of fluff, had to buy a second washing machine just for their bedding, which is always running.....our huge garden had to have all new fencing and so far 500m of dry stone walling dropped n rebuilt plus more to do.....build /modify fully covered kennels and the list goes on....
u'll get he idea.... see below....
from the age of 10 weeks they are becoming little monsters.....now their charactors are starting to show....which is great fun....
just to add that a new born pup with no mum will cost about €1,000 to raise to 4 months covering everything inc travel ...
the 2 charity's we do for have great benefactors from around Europe.....
So back to mum n the pups.....
Mums dried up now and was steralised last week.....she travels to Finland next Tues.......
This family have been very lucky....ish......from a bad start in life, prob ending up on the street but now they all have names, new owners and homes to go to in Finland...
The Finns have started their own fund raiser for all expences inc vets fee's, food n travel....
we just supply the time and a few extras......we can't afford to take care of everything so we only do it for animal shelters.....
sometimes we even get a month off between dumped pups....
we never name them untill they are a month old.....after a month ur pretty sure they'r gonna make it.....very upsetting when they dont.....
there are 2 ladies flying down to collect them all from Finland in around 6-8 weeks.....
they will stay with us for a few days so they get to know the pups then take em home as flight partners...
Up to 5 animals can be attached to ur ticket for a reasonable price.....around €50.each.....
Normally, we get them in the house during the day to get them used to a home plus our 3 dogs n cats.....but 9 is just to many at once so slowly slowly.....
they will be all clean and walked on a lead....they get rides in the car to eliminate travel sickness but as always there's the odd one....hahaha....
plus we have a few friends that visit just for the pups n a chat, that way the pups get to experience strangers....
luckily our house is all tiled so the odd mistake is easily cleaned up...
Overal it's very time consuming but great fun and makes it poss to meet some very nice people....
to add, we had to get extra space on the cloud to get all the photo's of the dogs we helped in there new homes...there's that many....lol....
Thanks for reading this and if u get bored at anytime u can always help at a shelter etc even if u only visit or take em for a walk....which is good for u and them....
our 2 shelters get help from people from all walks of life, right now there are 2 young women from America....
the charity are saving up to buy a small holding, build a house with a clinic so that the visiting helpers have somewhere to stay and the odd visiting vet can work.....
but that is well into the future....
what is retirement I ask.....hahaha....
