Nice one Noddy.

Before I order mine I want to get a feel of the best way to run it. I notice that one way is to place it between the machine and a normal 2 bag dust extractor such as this (picture 2) ebay link and then fit one of these (or something like it) on top of the dust extractor.

Or would it be better to hook up a motor, impeller, and one of the cartridge filters directly to the cyclone such as this (picture 4)? ebay link

If the second link is the way to go could I use the motor and impeller (and maybe even the fine filter) from a Scheppach HA2600 which I already have, or would it be better to buy a bigger motor and impeller?, if so what would be the best size motor and impeller to go for?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

Mike

Mike,
Good question, and let me preface my answer with "I don't have a clue".

I suppose in a perfect world I would like to go with the second of your two options, but that presupposes being able to get an impellor (don't know where from), a sufficiently powerful motor ( thinking 3-5hp from what I've read online) and perhaps more importantly getting the whole thing to fit together properly.
I spoke to Axminster about just getting the impellor/motor from their ADE4000 extractor and it didn't work out to be cost efficient at all (better buying a whole machine). Also this seems to be the only single phase machine with sufficient power and a 6 inch intake that I've been able to find.
I suppose what I will end up doing is buying an ADE 4000 and adding 1 or two fine filters (such as the one on ebay you linked to).

If anyone has any alternative solutions I'd be very grateful to hear them.
Thanks

erm stick a fan on it and see how much it sucks

No really I was just quoting the recommendations for cyclone's dust extractors, it's for the whole thing really not just the motor

Thanks Andy.

Can anyone else help me with the questions i asked above or give me some idea of what sort of motor and impeller I will need to run a piped system with all the usual machines connected.

Cheers

Mike

Sorry I cant help but i'm interested to know the answer!

so far it looks like i'll have to buy a standard extractor and fit the cyclone to that but i'd like to forgo the extractor if i can :?
