Wow i love it, I have been thinking of taking the wrap off my snare and veneering it, just to see how it would work.

Did you build the shells yourself or take the wrap of and venner it?

thanks for the comments all, these are solid zebrano stave shells built by me all from saw timber, i build these along side my furniture buissness for my pennies,

That looks fantstic deano. Did you build the shells by laminating? I remember years ago Pearl brought out a birds eye maple finish in the export range. Too expensive for me, had to settle for a crappy purple melamine finished one

Buddy Rich? Yep, would deffo be in my top ten along with Ian Paice, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Bill Ward etc... 8)

all solid wood mate no laminations, there built like a straight sided barrel then lathed to 3/8ths thick

i was lucky enough to meet steve white last sun (paul wellers drummer) and let him play some of my drums, he was taught by buddy rich among others

That must be one big lathe to turn the bass drum! How does the drum sound in relation to other woods?
