Hello friends, my name is Mo. I am based in central London (Westminster).
I love to build things since a child I have been incredibly curious about how things work.
I grew up in Germany, close to Switzerland where we would go to the pools and enjoy fine Swiss chocolate.

Currently I do maintenance work, as a Handyman but want to specialise and work more with wood because I love everything about it, how it feels and smells.

If anybody has an opening who needs help, or where I could watch them create things with the tools. I know how to measure and cut, how to use various power tools etc. but I know that I can't call myself a woodworker until I have been under the realm of a seasoned professional.

My hobbies are: creating things out of wood, fabric (sewing) and clay (handbuilt pottery), playing my Duduk flute (made out of Apricot wood) and Frame Drum, cycling/swimming/hiking/camping and just generally doing everything outdoors, when it comes to outdoor cooking, outdoor showering, outdoor living, bushcraft etc.

Happy to have joined this forum, I can already tell that it has so many pleasant people around. I did lurk the forums of plumbers and electricians too, didn't get the same kind response as here so I am happy to be around those who also love working with wood. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, it has been incredibly nice and sunny the past days.

Wish you all a great evening and a blessed month!

Hi there mo , welcome to you . I just wanted to say although direct help from a professional is an advantage there is no substitute for jumping in and having a go . Will you make mistakes-yes , should you give up -no , will everyone appreciate your efforts- no , should that stop you - absolutely no , will you get better and more confident-again 100% . If woodwork is in your blood then you will master it yourself and find your own way. Hand tools or power tools or both - take your pick .. I’m 60 this year and I’ve been doing woodworking since 10 or 12 years old. The more you do the better you become.. good luck 🤞

Welcome to the forum Mo. Are you maintenance for one company or do you travel around doing all sorts of jobs (if you don't mind me asking)

Yeah I travel around doing all sorts of bits and bobs but want to invest my time more into woodworking. Are you based in London?
