I have been offered a secondhand Record Power RPBS12. Can anyone who owns this bandsaw tell me what it is comparable to in the current Record Power bandsaw range? Is is similar to the BS300E? What size of motor does it have and is it an 88 inch blade?

Normally I would just ask the person selling the machine to tell me this but the seller is getting rid of it because he can no longer run the machine due to health issues. And it is a four hour round trip to pick the thing up I thought it might be a good idea to find out if it is big and powerful enough for my needs.

Thanks

Hi i have an rpbs12 and I have found that will handle every thing I chuck at it. It has a 6" cut with 12" throat so the bs300e is the nearest one to it. 88" blade. I replaced the guides with roller ones from record a couple of years age and it made it a lot better.and yes a good blade helps a lot no matter what bandsaw it is. I have had it for 12 years now and had not complaints with it yet.

Same here, if you accept it's limitations in terms of cutting capacity, it is a perfectly functional bit of kit (assuming that the one you are buying is in good order, of course!!).

I use a blade from Ian, which I can never remember what it is, but it will cut a 2mm veneer no problem ( have tried that, just haven't needed to go any thinner yet) and also rip 6" oak no problem.

Hope that helps

Same model as mine and with a good quality blade (from Ian) cuts everything upto 6" depth of timber plus if using a M42 thin metal plate.
