Hi, I have acquired this little box of what look like engineering tools but not entirely sure what they are or what they are for, is anybody able to enlighten me please ?

You assemble the parts together, using hidden magnets and clips within each piece, then it becomes a pistol. I saw this on a documentary a while back called 'the man with the golden gun'. Very informative.

Are the squares actually square? I don’t know but I wondered if they have anything to do with sand casting or pattern making?

Looks like a diemakers square set, not sure what the pointy one is for. As above, are they actually square?
 
Can you give us a bit more info?
What shape is the piece at the front?
What material is the black covering on it?
With the two small squares on the right, what shape are the stems, in cross section?

You're supposed to make your own - Why else do you think the box has so many squares?
 
just a nice set of bevel edged squares with a scribe and straight edge.

don't recognise the mark but a cheap ish set like that are around the 150 mark.
