Hello everyone. Having read this forum lots I have decided to opt for a set of diamond sharpening stones for the new boxed set of marples chisels I just bought. I see a few people on this forum saying that the DMT diamond workbench stones are really good, but I find that £40 a stone is a bit out my price range. Now I have recently discovered these diamond stones from Screwfix which look similar but alot cheaper at £12.99 each. Does anyone own one of these diamond stones and are they any good?

Would very much appreciate a reply soon.

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren,
I've got both and though the less expensive ones may not be quite as good as DMT ones, they do the job and it's not as painful if my son "borrows" them and then leaves them on a job somewhere.

Thanks for the quick reply JackL :) I'd like more replies from other peoples opinions on these also, before I decide.

Cheers

I would think you will get lots of conflicting advise on this topic, but for what it is worth heres mine. I have a DMT diamond stone which I use for general initial lapping preparation but all final honing and finish lapping is done on waterstones. I find diamond stones too aggressive to trust them near a fine edge

Thanks Kenneth. I think I'll just go for a course one of these cheap diamond stones and get finer water stones for a better finish and edge. :D
