Hello everyone.

I'm an amateur but keen woodworker. My machines have outgrown my workshop - but that is an issue to take up with my wife, not you lot!

Can anyone recommend a design software package specifically for workworking (furniture really). Metric preferably.

Thanks

Hello TinRibs,

Welcome.

There's been lots of, er... how shall I put it ... discussion recently about what software is good, and what's not, for designing furniture. Just search the forum for "CAD".

I've got to be honest and say that I hated learning Sketchup but all of a sudden (thanks to Dave R's wonderful tutorials) I've come full circle and finally find I love the package. Once you get over the hill of learning it you can do wonders with it (even doing construction animation is simple).

I can heartily recommend Sketchup now... but for god sake don't try to learn it using Sketchup's own tutorials as they totally suck!
