DE WALT DW125 FAILURE

I live in SW France and am renovating a 250yo farm house so my power shop is really essential. It's worked fine until Sunday when it stopped. I have dismantled the electrics and found the cables all burned. I can rewire most but my main concern are the three wires that disappear into the motor. Can these be replaced if I dismantle the motor? Any ideas how long this might take?

The photo shows the extent of the damage. Should I replace this capacitor and where might I find one?

I would replace that capacitor first as it has some signs of burning on the case. It may or may not be trashed but its not worth the risk for a few pounds.

Taking the motor apart and replacing bits is also a mornings job if you are ready and tooled up. You would need a bearing puller of about 150mm or upto 300 mm length. There are other puller types which may work also.

If its just to expose and check the wires to the motor then your looking at maybe a mornings work if slow and steady. It is possible and not too difficult to cut back the wires to the motor and then to solder on new extended wires with a heat sensitive casing added to cover the join.
