Unless you're going fairly seriously off-road (i.e. surfaces worse than a gravel lane) I would put some narrower, smoother (but not too narrow or too smooth) tyres on it. They will make a WORLD of difference to the rolling resistance (AKA how fast you go for a given effort, or how much effort you need for a given speed).
