Hi all
Slooooww progress - where does all the time go?
Have been able to glue up the tray for the poker chips today. There's a strip of purpleheart between each chip holder with a curved profile
It's still a bit brown as it's been freshly cut today - hopefully the colour will develop a little more.
I love the endgrain of purpleheart so I've used it as the face you see - cross-grain gluing?? Yup - keep my fingers crossed!

Chip holders were glued up in pairs, then all glued together:

Now just for the box....

Cheers

Whoops!
Guess i shouldn't have tried working on my project while going down with flu - managed to break one of the chip holders when i took it out of the clamps!
Am on my fourth day in bed now and fast running out of time!
the other entries are looking good!!

cheers

Hi Stewart,

Hope you get better soon. Hot curry and a few beers always seems to do the trick :) The pressure's certainly on now. Can't believe it's March already!!

If it makes you feel any better, I mananged to route a groove in the wrong place on a piece of my competition entry over the weekend. Wasn't too impressed with myself :? Hope you manage to get back on track soon.

Andy

Stewart, get well soon - I am not going to admit to any of my mistakes until after I've bagged the wooden spoon - there will be one, Neil :?:

Andy,
Feeling confident then :)
Not going to mention my other mistakes... yet. But aren't they all part of the fun :?
Andy

forgive me for not paying attention, but how did you make the curves for the chip holder in the end?

looks superb so far.

i succumbed to a new router bit - but it was only 1 1/2" in diameter so I had to make a couple of passes to make the slot 40mm wide. but, as I hadn't brought the oak indoors for a week or so before i did it the wood moved...the first of my many mistakes!!
if I manage to get it finished it'll be a miracle!
cheers
