It makes you think "I could do that" (but I bloody couldn't)

Well, at least you can tell him that the toolrest should be much closer... :D

Seriously though, nice work, Brad. :)

I'm in no position to be offering advice on spindle turning, I can't do it for toffee

Looking at the pictures I can see that you're right, Olly.

When I started though, the rest was nearly touching the big lump of wood I put in the lathe. It never occurred to me to move the rest closer as I demolished it!

I can understand the attraction of this wood turning lark. I might have another go in a few years time.

A week is what I budgeted. I've got that much to get finished by Christmas though, that I motored this one a bit.

At £1750 I reckon I did OK...

:D

Brad

That was about the money i was thinking. Well done pal and you deserve you success.

I Had a guy call in the workshop today. He needs a tv/stereo cab making- he's done the design and also a rad cover. He want's them both by xmas. I am busy till Feb but gave him a cheeky price anyway...'when can you start'.. Eeek. Still, it should help make up for the start of 09!

Nice work as ever Brad.

I see the creeping presence of real wood in your projects continues to grow...

Good job Brad and pretty impressive speed, that's the difference between weekend warriors and pros. Easy on the turning though :)

Nice work Brad. I might see if SWMBO likes the design - we need something similair for our house.

Cheers

Nice job...the gradual inclusion of real wood may be part of the 'cunning plan' hinted at in earlier threads - Rob

It'll be secret mitred dovetails next...

Can you have secret mitred dominoes

I've done a few jobs using secret mitred Dominos. I built a big washstand from 2.5" oak boards that way and am still waiting for the client to email me some piccies of it with the sink installed.

I also knocked up a few side tables for at home in 2" zebrano using 'SMDoms'

I've cut secret mitred dovetails by hand too. Never again!
