Hi everyone,
i am quite new to the wood turning but have recently found a constant supply of decent planks so need a bandsaw to cut them up,
i've seen this on on Ebay and have had an offer of £300 accepted for collection ASAP
so just thought i'd run it by you kind chaps for your opinion before i set out with my cash,
so is it money well spent or do i retract my offer and wait a bit for something better to come along?............
its an Axminster AWESBS and heres where to find it...........eBay item number:271554662630

i agree. looks a good buy. just ask to see it running on collection, but it looks like it has been cared for.

thanks for your input, i really appreciate it.
i just called the fella and i'll be collecting it later today from Swanley, any advice on transportation?
i'll have to lay it down to get it into my van so i guess i'll be taking off the table and the base but do i need to be supporting anything on the inside?

and also i guess i'm now in the market for a dust extractor so if you have any advice on those too i'd be more than grateful,
i'm set up in a single garage so it needs to be quite compact and easily serviceable ....?

it depends a bit on your van. Ideally (and this what i did with mine), take off the blade and table and lay the bandsaw on its back. If you have the space, the base may actually help it be more stable. If you have to lay it on its side, protect all switches and knobs.

I presume that without its base it wont stand up in your van?

its a SWB Transporter so plenty of room, i'll have to measure the saw but i'm guessing it will have to lay down,
i've got loads of straps and lashings as i'm often moving motorbikes around and you can never have too many of them, (straps i mean not bikes)
makes sense to have it on its back with the stand attached, i think i'll give that one a whirl after the upright option
Cheers

He's got two recent negative feedbacks for non-delivery/disputes, so do give the machine a good look over and try it running and cutting under load to avoid any surprises !

If it works fine then it's a good machine at a good price :)

Cheers, Paul

picked up the band saw from Swanley, no drama with loading it really, just removed the stand and it stood up in the van so only had to lash it down, Tidy, i even managed to buy his little SIP extractor off him as well for an extra £40 so I'm happy.
He also has a very decent looking Scheppach Basa 3 in there which he wants £450
and i noticed a nice Scheppach Planer thicknesser and a new mortiser, everythings up for sale if anyones interested give him a buzz,
his name is Darren 07721 660236
