Hi, thought I would share this project I am working on. 300 year old Chestnut with Bubinga bowties, will have a Bubinga frame round the outside with Chestnut pellets when i get round to it.

Thanks, it is 950 mm x 950 mm ( roughly ). Bowties are 1 @125 mm x 30 mm, and 2 @100 mm x 25 mm.
 
Nearly done, one more coat of osmo polyx oil to put on and mirror to put in... (the photo doesnt do it justice)

Beautiful, but I wonder if it would have looked even better with a wider frame? - it seems to me to look slightly unbalanced weight wise. Superb, nevertheless, and that's only a thought.
 
I would have liked to use wider Bubinga for the frame but could only get my hands on a small amount at the time... It is 50mm x 15mm. I think when the mirror is in it will finish it off nicely. Thanks for your input though Phil. ;)

That is going to look stunning once you get the mirror in, Like the idea of natural edge and also the butterfly repair patches gives the whole this character.
 
It would be a shame to hide all that wood behind a mirror :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Both my mirrors on the wall of an art gallery which opens in a couple of weeks :D

Well Phil.p I decided to put a wider frame on it after all.. managed to get some better figured bubinga for it aswell.
