Went along as even though they're not too far away I've never been and well, any chance that there might be a wood bargain is too good to pass up.

As I'm not a morning person dragging my cold ridden carcass out of bed on a Saturday morning in good time is not easy, so unsurprisingly when I arrived 45 mins after they'd opened most of the small packets had gone - woodies after a bargain are like moths to a flame :D

Thankfully I was after bigger pieces of oak for a bookcase, so was able to browse a pallet full myself for a good half hour. Was well looked after by friendly staff and ended up with 11 lengths of 2000x175x23 for 130 quid - bargain

Think I'll be going back, especially as they had some fantastic pieces of pippy oak that were crying out to be made into slightly rustic coffee tables

I had a notion of going today, but haircuts, dog walking and life in general prevented that. I must make a visit one day though.

Definitely worth a trip at some point Ed, I really had to struggle to avoid rifling through the brown oak pallet and then spotted a rack of bog oak on the way out - some of it quartered

At just over £41 a cu ft thats £2 cu ft more than their web site states, does not seem a bargain or a very good sale :?

Bit like selling new stuff on Ebay for more than almost anyone can buy it for.

Slight correction, 195 wide rather than 175.

Maybe I've been overpaying before but the prices seemed okay to me?

Micky taking aside - it's worth what some is willing to pay and as long as you are happy with what you got for the price you paid - that's all that counts.

We're all looking forward to seeing photos of this bookcase now, Damian! :D

Just had a look on their website. For a British company, most of their stock appears to be imported... :?

:)

The oak I got was French Olly

Still working out the details of the bookcase as well, though I'm thinking about an interpretation of an Arts & Crafts theme

Looks like you saved about 15% off the web cost if its the 190mm. I wouldn't say you have been paying over the odds their prices are average.
