Hi all
Thought this blank was Ash before I started turning it but now no idea what it is?. The lid is Ash, 9"x2.5", thought I`d do a `thorny` type burn on it, comments welcome ta!
Cheers
Steve

I rather like it overall, but the first image suggests a little bit of a miss-match between the lid and the bowl (in terms of wood?)

The clarity and definition of the pyro as shown in the last image looks excellent.

Cheers for that Jumps, agreed I`m still not sure about the lid myself, the two blanks looked similar before turning but there you go!.

I really like that. Makes me think of lord of the rings for some reason. It's wicked

The only bit I'm not sure of is the pyro on the underside of the base.

Nice work Steve :D
If your not to happy with the lid hows about ebonising it and making another knob but in plain wood to break it up a little??
I'm still using the vac chuck by the way :)

Thanks Boysie glad you like it :)

Cheers Mike enjoyed doing it!

Thanks Melinda ,the pyro on the base was meant to be a signature of some sort guess it didn`t work :?

Thanks Paul, good suggestion ebonising the lid, glad the vac chuck is still working, hope its helping with those superb bowls you are turning out :D

Thank you Colin, just taking my time I guess and using sharp bits in the pyro machine!
Steve

I like it but as mentioned think the lid is different timber to the bowl.

The pyro work is really crisp and well defined, with even density dark areas.

I think it works very well and the ebonised lid may well be the way to go.

What pyro machine do you use?

Regards,

mikec

Sorry Mike just noticed your reply!. The machine I use is a `Davan` unit made by a guy in Wales.
