Bottle stopper bolt

Hi All,

I have just started turning and am doing bottle stoppers at the moment. I was wondering if anyone knows what the M8\Coarse wood thread bolts are called? I would like to get a load to batch blanks up and then add the bottle stopper bit when people decide which style they would like.

It might be useful to say that what is shown in the picture is quite a specialised version of a hanger bolt.

It is stated above that it is M8. It has quite 'stubby' proportions (very short threaded lengths, maybe 3x diameter).

Note 'carbon steel self colour'. That means they will rust in the same way an old slotted head woodscrew rusts.

Probably a good idea to have some sort of plant to thwart (or slow down) mother nature on this issue.

Fair point, stainless steel ones can be had from Boltbase but might need cutting down a bit
