. . . at Axminster is now just short of £25 for 250g. Has that price doubled in the last year or so? Seems very expensive in comparison to what I have paid in the past. Bad shellac harvest?

Axminster probably have a higher and faster turnover than other suppliers, so it seems it is reflected in their prices that much sooner.
