i am currently trying to economise on my favourite material and am wondering if anyone knows a good supplier near stoke and prices i should be paying. i currently buy from b and q and am reasonably satisfied with the product although the current batch seems worse than normal. their price is £35 a sheet. i think it may be birch faced as some of the laminations seem dark. a large company called s.v. keelings seems to have a genuine birch ply in a range of sizes(8 by 4 and 10 by 5) and thicknesses but 18mm is £40 plus vat plus £2 for cutting. is this worth the extra and/or good value? any help or contacts would be appreciated. god knows how much a veneered ply would cost. i seem to recall somebody mentioning a place in middleton that was cheap. ps i will travel a bit

From recent purchases and ringing around and looking at the quality, £35-36 +vat a sheet seems to be the going rate for what is pretty good Latvian Birch ply B/BB, definately better than what I saw in my local B&Q (Bananas why can't they stack them properly) .
I could have got Finninsh at the same price according to one yard but the woodyards seem to be struggling to get Finnish in stock, or choosing not to because of the price premium.
Sorry can't help you in your area.

Cheers Alan
