If anybody's noticed on the buying tools/reviews topics about Festool Vacuums, does the same not apply for these???? The Jet is a hundred nicker more expensive!!! Is there such a difference in quality that can justify such a price difference??

PS - Plus you get a lovely bed extension with the Perform CCSL!!

Mark (Perform CCSL owner!!!!! )

The main differences are
Torque - the jet has nearly 2x the power of theperform
finish - the jet has a beetter overall quality of finish than the Perform
speed - the jet has a lower sped than the Perform, useful whe turning off centre things.

  • The perform is not a bad lathe but note that it is labelled as hobby whereas the Jet is labelled Trade. Whether it is worth an extra £100 is up to the buyer an what he/she intends to do. I have beeen running a Perform for the past 15 months and whilstI acnnnot complain about its value for money I find it's torque and general finish limiting.

I don't know, but would suspect, given the hobby versus trade ratings that Pete mentions above, that while the two lathes look cosmetically the same there are differences in motor and/or bearing quality behind those different ratings.

Not everybody would need a trade rated version of course and the Perform is a decent starter for many.

Don't know if the warranty periods are the same on both ?

Cheers, Paul. :D
