I have for sale some Beech Woodworking benches, they are dismantled and would be for COLLECTION ONLY they have been used but with a bit of a clean up would be OK for a secondry bench or if you are trying to build your ultimate bench and need a bench then these will work fine.

These benches are what Axminster sell and have two vices, an underslung Drawer and a lower shelf. The Front and Tail vices have 280mm jaws and an opening of 160mm supplied with 4 bench dogs and also work support pegs.

Working surface is 1370mm X 340mm X 860mm High and a full length tool well at the back which makes total 490mm wide.

You can see the pictures of this bench in the latest 2009 Axminster catalogue page 348 TOP PICTURE. The right hand leg has holes drilled to accept the work support pegs.

Axminster are selling these at £119.00. These benches are only £80.00

PM me if you are interested..

Weight taken from the Axminster catalogue is 38Kg but are dismantled and will fit in a car.

Thanks

Is this the one?

I have looked at one of these in the Axminster showroom. Although Beech they are not particularly strong nor heavy for chopping mortices or serious furniture manufacture. If you make boxes or want a light duty bench then they are better than a workmate, but there is a reason the Sjoberg benches cost a fortune - because they will withstand heavy duty woodworking. These will not.

I am not denigrating the sale or the price, just pointing out that these are not as substantial as the picture may indicate.

Yes I must agree but as a First bench it would be fine, what you have to appreciate is that it is not a bench for the advanced woodworker.

It would not be my bench of choice if I had £600.00 plus to spend but it will hold your wood for planing and cutting.

I am offering these benches as spec'ed in the Axminster catalogue and as with everything we all have to start somwhere.

Thanks

It's very similar to my Clarke bench and whilst it has its limitations I haven't felt the need to replace it yet - except for the vice :)
