Diversification split widens johnny, lidded art forms not my scene but it looks as though that piece would sit well alongside many an existing gallery collection.

Do I detect a bit of a dilemma in choice of media? fine art with 'good wood' or deeper into rustic with the 'driftwood'

The hollow form looks spot on there Johnny. I am not so keen on the finial personally but then I like the very fine ones or the carved ones so it is a personal thing.

Did you use the air brush for the staining?

This works much better than the other piece in my opinion. An excellent bit of work. The finial is better suited to the base, picking up the round shape. The overall flow of concave to convex is good. Colours are well done too.

Looking at it again I've changed my mind. I think it's very good indeed. The little cone gives just the right break from the bead shapes and with the lid part takes the curve round very nicely.

I hope the bowl is hollowed well enough to do the form justice!

Thanks for all the replies 8) This one is joining the SWMBO "I'm keeping that" collection

Pete, yes airbrushed, it gives a much better even coverage.

No dilemma Chas, both just different sides of the woodturning coin.I just love working lumps of wood into nice(I hope) things.Plus the 'driftwood' is good when I can't be bothered to sand
