Crikey, he does actually do some woodwork on occasion!

Aidan

I was going to say that but thought it might be taken the wrong way!

Good going Wizer, how did you find the Corby Iroko for use?

Fine, a little tear-y but not much, the Jet sorted it out. The slats are Yellow Balau, just the rails are Iroko. The duck decking will all be Iroko.

wizer, over ordering doesn't count as a cockup. I thought it was compulsory - after all how are we supposed to build up stocks for those quick brownie point projects.

Nice job Tom

Classy looking as well, just my kind of colours, and the timber looks great against the tile.

BTW what's on the floor, is it travertine or porcelaine?

Cheers

Jed

glad i came across this thread, just been talked out of attempting similar project by a joiner friend, was thinking of walnut but he said the gaps & springing joints that'll appear would go on for about 5year possibly! from the pictures though it looks excellent, any settling in probs as yet?

Nothing so far. The wood is a combination of Iroko and Yellow Balua, so ideal in a bathroom. I don't know about walnut.

I just came across this thread, nice job! looks really good. Bit of an inspiration really. Don't like the idea of these deadlines though, is it catching?
Cheers,

Wizer

I just looked at the photo again & noticed the duck board on the far right

I like that a lot - will copy it for our shower room

You can have it if you like Jim ;) I'm replacing it with a bigger one that goes right along the bath, kinda like decking in the bathroom.

We bought it in France about 6yrs ago. Much nicer than a bath mat.

Firstly, Hi All, love the forum. I think I might get lost in here.

Love the bath panel Tom, well done. Are you going to make your new duck board, and if so, any tips on how I can do the same?

Thanks

Welcome Trig. I will be making the new duck board myself. Not yet put any thought into it. Having looked at it earlier, after Jim commented on the old Duck board, I quite like the diagonal slats which will add a minor level of complexity. I'm thinking: fix up a framework out of Iroko, then attach the slats over length at an angle, then use a circular saw with a good blade & rails to trim everything square.

Thank you :)

Yeah I like the look of the diagonals in your picture. Sorry for the noob question (in woodwork circles I aim to progress to beginner), will you pilot hole and screw the slats, glue or both? Thanks

Two ways I could do it. Either pilot and screw from underneath or drill, screw and plug from the top. The first option is probably best. I'd use glue in both examples.

When I finally sit down and draw it all out, I'll post the sketch.
