I wish you the best of luck and if it is possible a speedy recovery.

Would I be rubbing salt into the wounds if I asked if you have insurance to cover you whilst off work?

Mick

Thanks Mick, no I have no insurance. I had it for years and never used it.

hi i have a good idea how you feel had back pain for years and ended up with spinal fushion 5 years pain free then it has came back on and off been getting head aches went to doc check me over then sent me for xray turns out got arthritis in right shoulder and elbow i'm lucky i only work part time now (59) 2 days as handy man in hotel (mainly decorating) kills the shoulder doing ceilings (hammer) ,
went for injection at doc's and he said if it gets to bad then can have op his words were they cut you here(on top of arm shoulder joint ) and says they stick a grinder in there  it is a joint where the bones don't join but just touch each other that where they stick the grinder according to doc he seemed to find it funny #-o
hope you get sorted asap all the best mate
pip

Ouch! good luck with that Pip....thanks.

Update for anyone interested.

I have a bulging disc next to the 4th vertebrae up. (What used to be known as a 'slipped disc'). This has trapped and irritated 2 nerves initially causing much pain.....which thankfully subsided completely over Christmas. It also caused significant weakness in my left leg making climbing the stairs hard work. My knee also gave way regularly.

My leg is back to 90% strength and I can carry stuff up stairs at a stretch. I go back to work on Tuesday starting the year with a bathroom re-vamp. After 2 months off I was hoping for something ground floor to start with but it's the first thing that's 'fittable'. I have a kitchen to follow.

The doc says lose 3 stone and protect your back at all costs at work, or it will go again. That won't be easy! (Either of them).

I really hope that this will be my last post on this thread. Thanks for your interest.

I wish you good luck but good core strength will help support your back so keep those exercises up.

Mick

And a good wide supportive belt/back support and maybe a young assistant to do the heavy work !

Best of luck.

Cheers, Paul
