Anyone going to the Planes and Chisel demo by Axminster?

Planes and Chisels: Sat 26 June

Peter Hibbin will be showing you how to sharpen, set up and use a variety of planes and chisels. He will also be showing comparisons between different plane manufacturers and getting the best out of the economical range too.

I spoke with Mike Jeffrey yesterday and we said how brilliant the Olde Kent Bashe was and he would be happy to host another bashe too...before the summer dies on us...

He has the space and we can all bring the grub....anyone up for that?

Jim

Mike Jeffery being the Axminster Manager? Is he hosting at Axminster or elsewhere? Definately up for it so long as it doesn't clash with holiday season!

Will need a SWMBO pass for 26th June, but should be do-able [-o<

Yes...he came with Peter to the Kent Bashe....nice bloke.

His intro is in that link with his picture...

He has a back room at Sittingbourne Axminster if we need to use it.

I take it Mike is talking about running some sort of open day rather than a UKW Bash? I wouldn't want to do one more than once a year. We'll be doing YOKBII in April/May next year.

Whatever you want to call it...they are offering the space and some special maybe and we can just pass around invites...it would be specifically for the UKW members though...

As I say, I wouldn't want to do more than one in a year. It kind of dilutes the fun. We'll be back with YOKB next year.

I disagree. I think we could have done the YOKB twice on consecutive days and I still would have not had time to talk to all the people I wanted to. There were so many things going on...so much packed in (thanks to you mate) that I barely had time to oggle the turning...play "make a lot of noise" with the dowel maker and chat to Matthew about WSH....

But you'se the main man....don't want to tread on your excellent organisational skills....I guess I will have to wait....booo hooo!

:D

Same venue Tom? I'm glad it'll be a bit later in the year, this year's event was excellent but a bit parky in Mr & Mrs O's 'shop - Rob

Yes Rob, obviously I'm used to the cold and it's comfortable when your working but we thought it'd better to wait for the warmer weather. If there's a bigger turnout it would be nice to be able to have the roller doors open.

I look really miserable in all the photos (tired) but I had a great time and I'm really looking forward to the next one. It's been nice that forum members I met that day have popped in for a cuppa and a chat too.

Agreed Simon, when you're busy you (I) tend not to notice the cold, except when it gets down to single figures on the thermometer and the glue won't set 8-[
I thought the turnout was excellent with just about the right number of bodies...we might have been a bit pushed for space had there been any more :duno:
An excellent event though and I'm looking forward to YOKBII - Rob
